Downloads again!
Much as I wish to avoid further debate about whether downloads signal the death of the CD I am compelled to re-enter the debate following the IFPI's announcement that CD sales have slumped 23 per cent since 2000.
According to the IFPI they expect digital downloads to reach 25% of music sales by 2010. Let's look at that figure - it's certainly a massive part of music sales. However by 2010, three years from now, I think it is fair to argue that the downloading market will have reached maturity. That means that 75% of music sold will be on CD, still by far the most popular format.
